Active Protection Systems

Active Protection Systems (APS) protect vehicles from incoming projectiles. This requires a radar with very fast reaction time and high accuracy to locate the threat and guide countermeasures to intercept. KMB's software-defined imaging radar is a generational improvement over traditional phased array fire control radars because KMB scans the entire scene at once. There is no pencil beam scan, no scanning lag to acquire a target, and no track-while-scan. The whole scene is scanned at once, and all targets are updated at once. This results in the lowest possible reaction time.

KMB's patented technology forms radar images with high resolution and high dynamic range. KMB radar provides rich radar imagery that can be processed with machine learning (ML) / AI to classify targets, reject false positives, or to fuse with other sensors such as cameras / EO/IR. KMB radar data can easily fused with other sensors such as optical sensors for seamless handoff and engagement. The sensor is robust, easy to integrate, and works in all conditions. It easily sees through smoke, dust, or fog and cannot be blinded by mud, glare, or explosions.
