Drone Detection On-the-Move

Detecting drones from a moving platform presents unique challenges. Current radars require precise position, navigation, timing (PNT) data to be operated in motion. If this data is degraded or jammed, the radar is blinded. This is because current radars must filter out slow-moving objects to reduce clutter and compensate for the radar's low resolution. This requires an accurate, continuously-update estimate of platform speed.

KMB software-defined imaging radar requires no external PNT input to detect objects of any speed. KMB radar can detect stationary or station-keeping drones in GPS-denied environments or urban canyons. In addition, KMB's patented technology forms radar images with very high dynamic range. This allows the radar to see very faint objects next to very bright objects. This allows radar to be used to detect targets in challenging scenarios that were previously impossible, such as seeing drones near clutter—for example near trees or low to the ground, or seeing drones in urban environments, near very bright radar reflectors like buildings.
